Dorothy Shirley-Emerson
I became the All -England High Schools high jump champion in 1954 and from thereon in recognised the work, time and expertise of teachers, coaches and officials to further my athletic development.
In 1958 I represented England at the Empire Games (currently the Commonwealth games) held in Cardiff. I had a full and involved sports life until 1971 which included several 'titles' the major one was achieving a Silver medal at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.
i have been a member of several Committees since 1965 which have led to my role on the Sports Volunteering North west Board. I still volunteer myself as a Treasurer for a Community Hall.
