Qualifications and Experience
I was born in Colne, Lancashire and brought up in Bolton. After leaving school I started work as an electrician but with the advent of television in the north west became more interested in the electronic side of the industry.
I studied at Bolton Technical College for City and Guilds in radio and television servicing and later at Blackburn College for further amendment when colour television became available.
I was vice chairman, chairman then secretary of the outdoor activities group of the North West Federation for Sport, Recreation and Conservation before becoming the administration secretary.
I always had a desire to speak another language so I have studied German, French and Spanish which I have found most useful on holiday.
