Why I am on the Board
I have been passionate about sport from a very early age and became interested in sports development whilst at school. I was an active volunteer at University and was a part of the Millenium Volunteers scheme completing 200hrs of volunteering. Volunteering has given me valuable personal skills and experience in addition to the formal knowledge I gained through completing my degree.
In my current role I help provide support for students and staff from the University who would like to volunteer within sport and the local community.
The potential for Higher education students to become involved in sport volunteering is endless, and by working with the students and ensuring they have a positive experience we can hopefully encourage a lifelong involvement within Sport as a volunteer.
Volunteers are a crucial part of the infrastructure within Sport, whether it is at grass roots or an elite level. I hope to work with Sport Volunteering North West to increase the number of quality volunteers by enhancing the support, opportunities and recognition we provide for these volunteers within the Region.
