Research including SVNW Ltd Survey

Sports Volunteering North West clearly set out in the 5 year strategy 'Reaching Higher and Wider' a commitment to staying in touch and tuned into the needs of sports volunteers and sports volunteer managers / co-ordinators. In addition, the strategy states that SVNW needs to provide strategic leadership and effectively manage the growth of sports volunteering in the North West.

To achieve these goals it is important the organisation keeps in touch with current research as well as commissioning it's own when necessary.

Volunteering Survey

In August 2006 SVNW commissioned its first piece of research to enable the organisation to identify and shape the support volunteers may need in the future, especially leading up to London Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012.

The survey data was collected and assisted in mapping out future plans for coordinating and providing improved services for sports volunteers in the North West. The survey data created a strong evidence base for the strategy for 2007-2012 'Reaching Higher and Wider'

The results are analysed and the final report is available here.

CCPR Sports Club Survey 2007

The Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR) is the umbrella organisation for around 270 national governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation in theUK.

The CCPR mission is to “Protect, Promote & Provide” resource for sport in Britain and specifically to act as a voice for the many different sports and federations in discussions with British government.

The research project aims to understand the impact of current and future government legislation on sports clubs enabling CCPR to argue more effectively on behalf of sport and recreation. The research provides an insight into the current status of sport clubs across England and Wales in terms of:

• Legal Status

• Membership Levels

• Employment of staff at the club

• Financial turnover over time

• Operating surplus / deficit levels over time
