NACRO NW Volunteers Programme
The purpose of this programme was to develop new sports volunteering opportunities for young people aged 16-25 years living in the North West Region. It was designed to encourage and support young people to acquire the confidence, knowledge and skills to begin and continue involvement in sports leadership, either in a voluntary or paid capacity.
The scheme was successful as it identified volunteers whose work focussed directly on working with young people, helping to deliver sports coaching activity sessions for young people at risk. All people who volunteered with Nacro completed a written application and were CRB checked. After initial induction training the volunteers also accessed further courses such as FA Coaching Awards, First Aid and Drug Awareness.
The programme has increased young people's confidence and raised their aspirations, it has also contributed to the community.
