Rachel Unitt - Everton and England

A full-back with a powerful left foot, Rachel has racked up an incredible tally of caps in such a short time and also chipped in with four goals from defence.

Rachel scored her first international goal in England’s victory over Holland in September 2004 and went on to score two more in her home town of Walsall during England's 4-1 victory over the Czech Republic in May 2005.

Rachel was awarded the England Women's Player of the Year 2006, voted for by the fans on TheFA.com for the first time.

Capped 16 times by England at U18 level and is now a regular in the national team’s senior squad after breaking through into the team at the end of 2000 in the European Championship qualifying campaign.

Rachel made considerable progress when she went full-time at Fulham, improving her fitness levels to a new high. Rachel won the domestic treble with Fulham in 2002-03 and was named the Nationwide International Player of the Year at the 2004 FA Women’s Football Awards.

After three strong performances at Women's Euro 2005, Rachel earned a summer move to New Jersey Wildcats for the last few weeks of their season and helped secure the W-League title before returning to Merseyside.
