Manchester Youth Volunteering Project "Playing the Game of Youth Volunteering"

Manchester Youth Volunteering Project

Manchester Youth Volunteering Project has been working across the city of Manchester for over 10 years. It started in East Manchester and was involved in the activity surrounding the Commonwealth Games in 2002.  MYVP has specialised in working with young volunteers from the ages from 14 – 25 and has worked with the most disadvantaged young people from Manchester.

It has many different approaches to working with young people:

          • Outreach work
          • Engages youth organisations to do partnership work
          • Works with high schools to do PSHE sessions and assemblies
          • Deliverers youth led projects

The project also runs a young people's Management group and does just about anything else young people want to get involved with as a volunteer.

It works with young people in a short term capacity, as a part time volunteer and helps young people access accreditation and training. It has been recognised by Sport England, The Russell Commission and Youth Action Network as a project of Outstanding good practice and has been involved with many national pilot projects.

Session: Playing the Game of Youth Volunteering

MYVP will run a brief presentation of who they are and then look at the reasons for a young person to get involved with volunteering. It will look at challenging stereotypes to volunteering and break down barriers to young people.

It will be a fun fast paced and interactive session!
