Volunteering with the British Horse Society (BHS)

Volunteers are extremely important to The British Horse Society and we work together to fulfil our mission:-

"To work in a spirit of partnership, with energy, commitment and knowledge, to promote and achieve the
highest standards in all areas of equestrianism."

The British Horse Society currently has in excess of 800 Volunteers who give their time freely and willingly to aid us in 'Working for Every Horse and Rider'.

Volunteers make us a stronger body within the equestrian world and as a Society our Volunteers are important and valued.

There are many different volunteering roles within the Society with different requirements. To get the most out of your role as BHS Volunteer it is important to chose an area that best suits your skills and knowledge.

When considering a volunteering role it is important to be realistic about how much time you can give the BHS. Some roles require more time than others.

You could volunteer to serve on a Committee and chose an area that interests you, such as safety, access, welfare, competitions or press officer work.

Alternatively you may want to assist us at events and shows, as judges, car park attendants or other important roles.

For some roles you will be required to have access to a car, telephone and a computer and email.

Volunteers do not need to be riders or own horses to help the Society. Enthusiasm and an interest in making a positive difference to the equestrian world is a must. Volunteering experience is not necessary.

Our Volunteers find their roles challenging and enjoyable with wide ranging benefits
