New Volunteering Website linked to 2012
A NEW website and publicity materials is to be launched to to help London sports clubs get more volunteers involved in sport during the build-up to the 2012 Olympics.
The Sporting Heroes campaign is being launched as part of Volunteers Week, which starts on Sunday, by Greater London Volunteering (GLV).
The new website, funded by London Councils, offers free resources to help clubs recruit, manage and support volunteers.
It is part of a wider 2012 legacy initiative from GLV to bring new audiences to volunteering in London
Features on the new website include the new London Events Volunteering Calendar and information support for clubs and volunteers.
Downloadable resources include promotional posters, checklists, templates, and records of achievements.
Paul McCannah, the chairman of London Councils Grants Committee,said:
“It is important that the 2012 Games leave a lasting legacy benefiting
"Getting involved with helping local grass roots sports clubs is an excellent way anyone can help achieve that legacy.”
Phil Hope, the Minister for the Third Sector, welcomed the scheme.
