Volunteers Week 2008
Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) is the UK's annual celebration of the work volunteers do. During the Week events are held across the country to recognise, reward and recruit volunteers. To find out more about what is happening in your area visit the Volunteers Week website.
To recognise the importance of volunteers in sport we are going to highlight different aspects and experiences of volunteering each day this week.
The theme for today is Volunteer Managers, these are the people who are paid or volunteer to manage volunteers in sport. They are an incredibly important bunch of people, they ensure volunteers have the best experience possible and orgaisations get the most from their volunteers.
Sports Volunteering North West supports Volunteer Managers in several ways, firstly there is the pilot Excellence in Volunteer Management currently being run in the region. The pilot is looking at the use of the Volunteering England developed course and how it could benefit sport. SVNW also ensures Volunteer Managers are catered for at the annual Hands Up For Sports Volunteering Conference.
Local Authority Sport Development Units and County Sport Partnerships run courses designed for sport Volunteer Managers from Runningsports - visit their website to find out more.
