North West RFL Refs on the Rise
Six up and coming match officials from the
Earlier this month Halton Farnworth Hornets played host to the closing stages of the North West Colleges competition and the games were officiated by, Dave Yeomans (Widnes), Adam Gill (Widnes) , Robert Jones (St Helens), Alex Dyer (Widnes), Louise Greenhalgh (Widnes) and Joe Nixon (Manchester), who are some of the top up and coming referees in the area.
“It was a tightly contested competition throughout with the final being won in extra time by the golden point,” said Peter Brooke, RFL Match Official Development Officer.
“The format of the day meant that the games were played at a very fast pace and every decision was crucial. All the match officials were great and played a vital role in the day”, continued Brooke.
Two of the match officials – Dave Yeomans and Adam Gill – have recently been recommended to the National Conference League referees list and have made their debuts in the flagship League this season.
“I’d like to congratulate both Dave and Adam on the achievements so far and I’m sure they’ll go on to make excellent referees. They really work hard both on and off the pitch and being asked to officiate in the National Conference is a great reward for them” added Brooke.
