UK Cheerleading

UK Cheerleading

UK Cheerleading Association is continuing its development of Cheerleading and Street Cheer

within the school sport & dance structure in conjunction with School Sports Partnerships across the UK.

In the last 12 months alone, UKCA

has trained over 1030 teachers from 983 schools to deliver Cheerleading as part of the curriculum and after school activities.

Cheerleading is a unique physical activity incorporating; cheering, dance and gymnastic skills. It has a proven record of engaging young people disillusioned by traditional PE and schools sport.

UKCA has developed a clear strategy for the implementation of the PE, School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL) initiative to encourage sustained habitual participation, together with Leadership opportunities in schools & FE facilities.

As part of the development structure, students from schools/clubs/groups across the UK are being invited to take part in Street Games, Youth Games and National Schools Cheerleading Festivals, with opportunities to meet and compete against schools/clubs/groups.

Cheerleading is linking through to the ‘Gifted and Talented’ programme, with representative opportunities at National, European and World levels.

As a physical activity, Cheerleading is reaching all government targets with mass participation and full inclusion.
