Rob Fisher
He spends up to 4 hours per week volunteering in football –coaching U 16’s and U 17’s, role of club vice chairman, child protection officer, coaching goalkeepers, officiating & First Aiding. He has been involved in athletics coaching & officiating at annual sports days, Basketball coaching, Volunteered and supported young people at the club from hard to reach groups, Charity sports days, coaching a ladies football team to improve their skills, acting Chairman of the Club in the Chair’s absence and also taken many coaching sessions at the local primary schools.
In addition, he has become a member of the local Volunteer Youth Form, providing a voice and ideas for the development and future of the Cheshire & Warrington Sports Volunteering Programme. Increased the number of young people playing football in his community and has taken an active role in improving their skills. He has recruited volunteers via parents, friends & family to help out weekly in roles such as Club Sec & treasurer.
Provided links to his club from the local primary schools at which he has coached football. Increased membership numbers at the club as a result of his dedication to training nights, introduction of rewards & recognition such as “most improved player”, top goal scorer” etc. Getting the players, parents and supporters involved in Charity/fund raising events within his community – increasing local awareness of the club and also helping local charities (half of proceeds to charity, half to club).
He has got other members of his social circle involved in the club in a number of different roles – his brother is now a team member and his girlfriend is an active supporter of the club, turning up weekly to assist in volunteering roles. He played a major role in ensuring one particular player stayed with the club and developed his skills to become an active member of the team and helped the individual overcome his own shyness and barriers such as language, ethnic origin and religion.
