Excellence in Volunteer Management

Sports Volunteering North West is undertaking a Volunteer Co-odinator / Manager Training Pilot in conjunction with Sport England and Warrington Volunteer Centre.

The Excellence in Volunteer Management course has been developed by Volunteer England and Sue Jones a trainer based at Warrington Volunteer Centre has agreed to deliver courses in the North West to people in the sport sector.

Currently 2 courses are planned, one in Lancaster covering the North of the region, and one rotating between Manchester and Warrington to cover the South of the region.  The pilot will be fully evaluated to established the best way to roll it out for the benefit of sport volunteers and professionals.

The need for training for volunteer managers was identified by the research carried out by Sports Volunteering North West in 2006, the full findings can be read here.

Excellence in Volunteer Managementis a one year course with bi-monthly workshops supported by distance and e-learning.  It is the equivalent of NVQ Level 3 and is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management.
